Arab Banking Corporation, an international universal bank, Founded in 1980 in Bahrain, has a presence in more than 22 countries in the MENA, GCC, Europe, The Americas and Asia. Its main shareholders are solid institutional investors, such as Kuwait Investment Authority (29.69%), Central Bank of Libya (41.65%) and Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (17.72%)..
The strategy towards the Algerian market potential was materialized by establishing the representative office in 1995 which allowed Arab Banking Corporation to develop and strengthen the cooperation with the Algerian Financial Institutions and to witness the economic reforms launched in the beginning of the 90s in particular the reforms authorizing the establishing of private banks with foreign capitals in the Algerian Market.
ABC Bank - Algeria was then the first international private bank to be authorized to operate in Algeria by the “Conseil de la Monnaie et du Crédit” (Council of Currency and Credit of the Central Bank of Algeria) in September 24 th, 1998 and began operations on 2nd December 1998 with the opening of its main branch at Bir Mourad Rais, Algiers
ABC Bank – ABC Bank Algeria’s capital was raised to 10 billion DZD and main shareholders, in addition to Arab Banking Corporation BSC (87 ,62%), are The Arab Investment Company (TAIC) Riyadh(4,18 %), , The Compagnie Algérienne d’Assurance et de Réassurance (CAAR) Algiers (2,09 %), The International Finance Corporation (IFC) Washington (1,85 %),, and other private Algerian investors (4, 26 %)
